Hair transplantation with Dense Packing

In our consultations we regularly meet unsure patients who, due to different statements and sources of information, are justifiably doubtful about how many grafts will achieve an optically sufficient density.
Basically, what counts is: The more hair you get, the more beautiful the result will be. Of course, a result looks better after 5000 transplanted grafts than after 2000 grafts (with the same recipient). A hair density of 60 grafts/cm² naturally has a much greater effect than, for example, a hair density of 40 grafts/cm² (with the same hair characteristics).
The hair density achieved is an important criterion in assessing the quality of the hair transplantation performed. The results of different providers vary greatly and the difference can sometimes be more than considerable.
In order to achieve natural and aesthetically beautiful results, a certain minimum density (especially in the hairline) should not be under-run. Some providers justify their lack of density by claiming that circulation problems and reduced growth rates can occur after Dense Packing. Such statements are highly doubtful, as practice proves just the opposite. Dense packing treatment requires much more time, experience and talent from the doctor and their entire team than low graft density treatment, which is faster and easier to perform.
The density of the result is not only determined by the number of hairs transplanted, but also by the subjective impression of the observer. This visual density is significantly influenced by the hair characteristics of the donor hair (hair shaft diameter, hair colour or contrast between scalp and hair, curly, wavy or straight hair, etc.). Therefore, results with only "35" grafts/cm² and very good hair characteristics are seen as denser than, for example, results from other patients who received a density of "60" grafts/cm², but with significantly worse hair characteristics.
It is absolutely recommended to transplant at least 40-70 grafts per cm² in the area of the hairline and this is done routinely and without exception in all our patients. In Europe, only a few specialists for hair surgery can claim this.
